Showing you what your Home page in Canvas should look like and what to include. It shows how you can use the MIT Canvas Standards (MCS) template to do this.
The Home page of your Canvas course is the page your students see first. It must give them a good, consistent impression. Use the MIT Canvas Standards (MCS) template which features a Home page containing all the necessary information:
- School banner
- Basic course information
- Welcome message: You need to tell your students about your course in a couple of paragraphs. Be welcoming. Talk directly to your students. Make them feel like everything they need to know can be found somewhere in this Canvas course.
- Links to course outline
- Links to course modules: Make sure that you break your course down into modules (either by topic of by date) and that you link to them from the home page.
- Contact information: You need to include your contact information.
You need to keep the Home page simple and ‘clean’, but give learners a place from which to launch their study on your course.
