Want to make your content more engaging? This video shows how to embed YouTube videos into Canvas so students can watch without leaving the page.
You can embed YouTube videos in Canvas to keep your course content engaging and interactive. Instead of linking out to YouTube, you can display the video directly on your page. This helps students stay focused and reduces distractions.
Start by finding the video on YouTube. Click the Share button below the video, then select Embed. You’ll see a code window—copy the code. This code tells Canvas where to display the video.
Next, go to your Canvas page and click Edit. In the toolbar, click on the embed code button (it looks like a cloud). Paste the embed code int eh pop-up box. Then save the page to see your video in place.
You can embed videos in many areas—on pages, in assignments, or even inside discussion instructions. As a result, students can view content without needing to open a new tab.
This quick video guide walks through each step. Once you’ve done it once, you’ll find it easy to repeat in future courses.
Adding video content can support different learning styles. It also helps explain complex ideas more clearly. Embedding rather than linking keeps the experience simple.
Tip: Use short videos and place them near related content to make learning more effective.
